you wanted to see me?

Here and there you will find people that tell you the truth. Not the today-you-look-like-crap kinda truth. More like, hey, if you want to reach your goals, if you want this to work, then here’s what you need to do. I can call myself lucky to have found people like that. Obviously there’s my husband, who, even though he doesn’t understand one bit what photography is about, pushes and supports me without doubt. Awesome guy, isn’t he. I know. He’s mine. I’m not sharing. Now back off.

Then there’s the people that you meet online, by chance. You start talking and bouncing ideas off of each other. Ok, it’s more like me going, hey, what do you think? Give me adviiiihiiihiiiiice! But, people help. I got some advice. Update your ‘about’ section, people want to see you, put a face with the work. Ugh. Thanks. I don’t have photos of myself. Now just imagine me saying that like a 3 year old that was told to clean his room. Yeah. But still, thanks for the advice. I know you’re right. But right there was my next problem. I needed something that would let you see me. A photo. A simple photo. Not the one where I hold a newborn in the hospital. Or the one with my husband when we decided to make a face mask with Nutella. I don’t want to do that to you. You can thank me later. So what’s a girl to do? Right. I grabbed myself a talented photographer and told her, I need this. Like, I NEED this. Again, the 3 year old. Thankfully she was super cool about it, grabbed my camera and started a mini shoot.

So, this is really just a thank you note. Thank you to everybody that helps without thinking about it twice. Thank you for being cool when I act like a 3 year old. Thank you for being patient and nice and just plain awesome.

And because there’s no post without the dudes, here they are 🙂

Now go and check out the new and improved, much grown up ‘about’ section 🙂

The red one and the green one

That’s what they decided to be for Halloween. After I had already made some super cool plans. I wanted them to be Buzz and Woody, because you know, they’re kind of obsessed with Toy Story. I was going to make a space ship with the moving boxes that were left from our move and have a fun photo shoot in the desert. But then we walked into the costume store. Between weird little dragons and bloody body parts they found the red one and the green one. There was no turning back.

So, Happy Halloween from our house to yours 🙂

hugs for brothers

How did that first day of school go? It went great. He loves it. He walks in like he never did anything else, no complaining, no sadness, just a happy ‘bye Mama, I’ll miss you! See you later!’ Little brother doesn’t quite sound like that when we leave the big one. He sounds more like this ‘wahhhhhh! Wah! WAAAAAHHHHHHH!’ I know he misses him dearly and as soon as we go pick him up they hug each other and the big one whispers ‘I love you’ in the little one’s ear ♥

it’s time to let him fly

It’s time. I was dreading this since he was born. The first day of school. Pre-k. He’s so excited. I’m so sad. My big boy is growing up and taking his first steps in this world without me by his side. It’s a scary thought. I know he will be in good hands, he will have fun, he will learn and make new friends and enjoy it to the fullest. But does it have to be so soon? It’s a big step and even though it makes my heart heavy, it is a time to celebrate.

So here’s what we do in Germany. Kids get something called a Schultuete, a school bag, filled with goodies for school and fun. And a little candy. Since we don’t live there I can’t buy one, I had to make one. It’s ok. I made one for little brother too 🙂

Schultueten for the dudes

a day at the beach

Yesterday we decided to take a drive to the beach. We haven’t been to a beach since we lived in North Carolina, about 4 years ago. I didn’t know I missed it that much. I might have to become a beach bum and just live there 🙂

It was also the very first time for my boys to see the ocean and enjoy the beach. They loved it. Not to mention that they have a carnival at Santa Monica Beach, so that was the icing on the cake for them. They had to go on every ride that they were big enough for, and not only once 😉 Of course we didn’t miss out on ice cream and funnel cake, I guess it was a spoil-the-kids-day. Ok, and us.

my big one 🙂
