Galette des Rois

When I was a kid the whole family used to gather at my great grandmother’s house and celebrate Christmas. After the big 6 course dinner we would have Galette des Rois. Usually you have this cake on Three Kings Day and whoever finds ‘le feve’ in his piece would be the king or queen for the evening. All of us cousins were crazy about getting that crown but what usually happened was that one of the adults found it and then hand the crown over to my sister, since she was the youngest. She would then proceed to sit under the grown up table and hide, so I couldn’t get to the crown. Nice.

Since I can’t buy the galette anywhere here, I made one, it being Three Kings Day and all. If you would like to make one too, you don’t have to wait until next year, it’s delicious and easy to make and goes perfectly with Cafe au Lait or Cafe Creme šŸ™‚

  1. Your galette des rois looks great! This is very interesting. We have something similar in Spain called “Roscon de Reyes” that also has a little gift inside and it’s cooked on the Three Kings day.
